What Does the Collection Filters Widget Do?

How Is It Different From Smart Search?
While the Smart Search feature displays search results as visitors type into the search bar, the Collection Filters Widget works by letting users manually apply filters to browse through multiple products within a collection. It provides a more structured way to refine product searches, making it especially useful for larger inventories.
By enabling the Collection Filters Widget, you can improve the shopping experience for your customers, making it easier and faster for them to find exactly what they need.
How to Enable the Collection Filters Widget?
STEP 1
Access your Shopify Admin's Theme Library to open the theme customizer.
STEP 2
Click on the Theme settings icon.
STEP 3
Open the⚡Paid widgets tab and toggle the Collection Filters Widget option.
How to Customize the Collection Filters Widget?
STEP 1
Inside the theme editor, click the top dropdown menu and navigate to Collections > Default Collection (or your custom collection).
STEP 2
On the right-side panel, find the Product Grid section and click to open its settings.
STEP 3
Scroll down to the Filtering and Sorting group, where you can adjust the Desktop filter layout to:
Horizontal
Vertical
Drawer
💡 Note: The Drawer layout will always be the default for mobile. Save your changes and preview your store.
STEP 4
Customize Additional Settings
Collection Filter Icon – Adjust the appearance of the filter icon.
Show Unavailable Options – Choose whether to display unavailable products.
Products Count Visibility – Toggle the visibility of the product count.
STEP 5
Click Save to apply your changes and preview your store.
How to Edit the Collection Filter Content?
STEP 1
Go to the Shopify App Store and download the Shopify Search & Discovery app.
STEP 2
Once the download is complete, open your Shopify Admin, then navigate to:
Apps > Search & Discovery.
STEP 3
In the Search & Discovery app, locate the left-side panel and click on "Filters".
STEP 4
Here, you can:
Edit the default collection filters, such as availability and price.
Add additional filters to refine your collection filtering options.
STEP 5
Save your changes, and your collection filters will be updated accordingly.
