Make Your Shopify Theme Specific to Specific Markets

Shopify offers a variety of features to help you customize your online store and cater to different markets. If you have customers in multiple countries, you can enhance their shopping experience by customizing specific sections and blocks for each market.

What Are Markets and Contexts?

Markets in Shopify refer to the different countries or regions where you sell your products. You can set up distinct markets under Shopify settings and navigate to Markets.

Contexts are how you tailor your online store's appearance and content for these different markets (countries). By adapting your theme for each context, you can provide a personalized and targeted shopping experience for your customers.

Customizing Your Store for Different Markets

When you customize a theme, you can choose which market (or context) to edit from a drop-down menu at the top of the customization page.

Any changes you make when you select one of these regions will apply only to that specific region.

For example, if the United States is selected, changes will appear only for customers in the USA.

Drop-down Menu Options

  • Default: This sets a standard layout and content that other markets can inherit from or modify. Changes here apply to all markets unless specifically overridden.

  • Other Markets: This option allows you to customize the store for a specific region. The changes will only be visible to customers in that market.

Why Is The Content I Saved Not Reflecting on the Live Store?

If the changes you made are not showing up live, it might be due to the context settings. Ensure you are viewing the store in the same market where you made the changes. You can verify this by checking the context drop-down menu inside of the theme editor or looking for a diamond-shaped icon next to the edited content.
